A Visit At St. Supery in Napa Valley

We recently visited a Napa winery that is not just popular with tourists, but also a local favorite. We ran into some locals while we were there picking up their wine club shipment and having a sip of the 2017 Napa Valley Estate Sauvignon Blanc, which I must say is the perfect Summer sipper. Some always makes its way home with me when we visit. Why is St. Supery loved by so many? Let us count the ways, or at least some of them.

Let's start with the obvious, they make great wine and their price points are great too. For example, that Sauvignon Blanc I just mentioned is only $22 retail and $17.60 for wine club members. If white wine isn't your thing and you want wine with that rich, vibrant purple and red hues, they have you covered in that department too! For a current list of available wines on their website GO HERE

Beautiful grounds and an art gallery inside that changes often is another reason St. Supery is visited by many. As you can see there's art outside too along with enjoyable spaces with water features and even an interesting game that we will talk about later. The giant cork screw is a great place to take a photo. Let's just say it's taller than you.

Let's talk about the warm reception you will recieve when you arrive at St. Supery. The staff there is amazingly and genuinely friendly. I recommend you have a reservation here especially on the weekends, but even if you don't, pop in and see if you can get a tasting. You won't be disappointed and there's a lovely shop in the lower level there that sells more than wine.

To my delight I saw the Wine Country Women Of Napa Valley book on display. If you have interest in learning about the innovative and passionate women whose families helped put Napa Valley on the map, this will be a good read for you.

If you need more to entertain yourself while you are visiting St. Supery they have a couple of areas set up to play Pétanque. It kind of reminds me of Bocce Ball. We can't get enough Bocce around these parts! Someone may even be offended that I compared the two games, but that's okay.

In the French Game Pétanque [petɑ̃k] the objective is to score points by having boules closer to the target than your opponent after all boules have been thrown. This is achieved by projecting boules closer to the target, called a cochonnet, or by hitting the opponents boules away from the target, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground. After your done joking about how to pronounce the fun french word that essentially means "balls", go give it a try. For those of you still wondering the the difference is between Bocce and Pétanque  - Bocce is more of a bowling game, whereas Pétanque is more of a tossing game, like horseshoes.

One more reason that is important to us here at Wine Tour Pros is that St. Supery is Certified Napa Green and sustainable. What does that mean in simple terms? It means they take steps to protect our land and environment for future generations. There's more information about that on their website. GO HERE

We want to give St. Supery a huge shout out for having bird and owl boxes on property and working with nature AS NATURE INTENDED. They are also one of the few dog friendly wineries.

Here I am enjoying some shade at St. Supery the day Jeremy Durfee, owner of Wine Tour Pros and King Of All Wine Tours and I took these photos. Thanks for reading! Jamie Durfee AKA The Social Hen.
